Who We Are

Joe Rego is the Creative Consultant for Gotta Lite’n Up. He is the talent behind each of the recipes presented each week. Joe moved to the USA in 1984 from Portugal with my parents and my sister. He settled in the city of New Bedford, Ma. After graduating High School, he made the decision to forgo a full music scholarship in favor of a shipyard opportunity that would help support my family. After the persistent encouragement from a friend to pursue my culinary talents, he applied and was accepted into the prestigious Johnson & Wales University. Upon graduation, he began his career at the French-inspired brasserie, The Union League Café, in New Haven
Conn., followed by successful stints at Atlanta’s most critically acclaimed restaurants including South City Kitchen, Fritti and Allegro. He gained French cooking skills working in St. Tropez and learned to make fresh Italian pasta through many years of valuable
experience at Sotto Sotto in Atlanta. After his returned to my hometown in Boston, Mass., he was instrumental in opening four franchises of Not Your Average Joe’s.

He helped these restaurants earn several awards including Bon Appétit’s “Best Italian Restaurant in Atlanta,” Atlanta magazine’s “Best Restaurant,” and Jezebel magazine’s number nine spot in “100 Top Best Restaurants.” In 2012, he was rated as one of the top chefs to watch out for by Creative Loafing Atlanta. Also in 2012 Joe was a winner on the Food Network Show “ Chopped “ and also was the winner of Food Networks Show “ Cutthroat Kitchen in 2016. Joe spends his days off cooking and experimenting with food with his wife which she is also a graduate of Baking and Pastries from Johnson & Wales.

Dave Broadmeadow has twenty years experience in the restaurant business. He started attending Holyoke Community College in their Culinary program where he learned all of the basics of the business both front and back of the house. He then moved to Florida, where he attended Florida Institute University in their acclaimed program in Restaurant Management. He has worked for and managed several restaurants including Capital Grille (Miami) and Anejo (Cape Cod). David’s passion for cooking has always been present and has brought him to this moment opening up Gotta Lite’n Up.

Our Mission

Here at Gotta Lite’n Up, we believe that eating healthy is paramount to a good life. But you shouldn’t have to sacrifice taste to support your healthy living. Here at Gotta Lite’n Up our talented staff have been able to create a beautiful merger of really healthy fresh foods that taste amazing. We exist to help you balance your time. With a good meal plan and prepared meals to support that plan, we believe you have the recipe to live your best, healthiest life. But we know that spare time isn’t always abundant and cooking may not fit into your lifestyle. We are here to help.

Lastly, we are dedicated to our community. The Southcoast community is important to everyone who works at Gotta Lite’n Up. We grew up and live in the community and we love the community. As such, we support the Southcoast in our volunteer and philanthropic efforts.
